CONCEPTION OF "THE MUSIC OF THE NIGHT" IN A. L. WEBBER’S MUSICAL "THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA"

Abstract. The author studies certain elements of the poetic text, music and dramatic action of "The Music of the Night" in A. L. Webber’s musical "The Phantom of the Opera", reveals the significant enrichment of the main character’s image in comparison with the novel – primary source, the semantic emphasis shift from lyrical love feeling to the creative component of his nature, and tells that in the context of the musical this item is perceived as a kind of the hymn glorifying art, creativity and creation.
