ORPHAN HOMES OF BURYATIA AS FORM OF CHILDREN WITHOUT PARENTAL CARE ORGANIZATION IN THE 1920S

Abstract. The author, basing on the study of regional and central archives materials, analyzes the process of orphan homes creation and development in Buryatia in the 1920s as one of the main forms of children without parental care organization, shows the change in the number of orphan homes in the 1920s, conducts the comparative analysis of the number of orphan homes in Buryatia and other regions of Eastern Siberia, introduces the statistical data showing the level of child homelessness in Buryatia in the 1920s into scientific circulation, describes the living conditions of children in orphan homes, shows the level of teachers’ qualification, and comes to the conclusion about the insufficient quantity of orphan homes in Buryatia in the 1920s, the absence of conditions for homeless children’s successful socialization.
