VIRTUAL MUSEUMS VS TRADITIONAL MUSEUMS: VIRTUAL EXHIBITS ADVANTAGES

Abstract. The author discusses a modern phenomenon of culture – virtual museums that are the products of computer industry, in particular, their integral component – virtual exhibits, considers the most important functions of virtual exhibits, namely the function of cultural heritage preservation and the research function, widely used in the world practice, and in order to improve the awareness of the merits and advantages of online museums presents the estimation of opponents’ arguments, insisting on critical positions in relation to virtual museums.
