Abstract. The author considers sign systems from the viewpoints of information- and activity-based approaches in various directions of research, analyzes different approaches to sign systems: psychological, phenomenological, gnoseological, existential; and correlates the inner and outer aspects of activity with communication processes, upon which sign communication link is constructed.
