VOLOST GATHERINGS ACTIVITY IN ALTAI DISTRICT OF TOMSK PROVINCE AT THE END OF THE XIX TH – THE BEGINNING OF THE XX TH CENTURY

Abstract. The author considers the questions of the volost gathering activity in Altai district of Tomsk province at the end of the XIX th – the beginning of the XX th century, uses significant archival material, in the course of the research reveals and describes the main problems, which were solved by the volost gathering, conducts their classification and analysis, reveals the degree of the volost gathering dependence on the official power, comes to the conclusion that the volost gathering acted as a real regulator of volost life, and tells that it combined following in line with the head’s directions and the solution of the vital problems of the peasant community on the basis of compromise.
