ARCHAEOLOGICAL EXPEDITIONS ACTIVITY IN DAGESTAN. THE 1920-1930S

Abstract. The author discusses the activity of the Russian archaeologists A. S. Bashkirov, A. A. Iessen, A. P. Kruglov, M. I. Artamonov etc. on the study of ancient and medieval history in Dagestan in the 1920-1930s, gives the characteristic of a number of complex and archaeological expeditions work that were conducted in Dagestan and had a great scientific-historical value, shows that the systematic and planned archaeological research of considerable territory within Dagestan began after the organization of the North-Caucasian archaeological expedition of Institute of Material Culture History of Academy of Sciences of the USSR; outlines the routes of the expeditions, and names the main archaeological monuments.
