CONCEPTION "HAPPINESS AS COMPULSION": PASCAL BRUCKNER AND MARTIN PAGE

Abstract. The author considers the main ideas of the conception "happiness as compulsion" by Pascal Bruckner, artistically interpreted in the novel "How I Became Stupid" by Martin Page, presents an attempt of a linguistic-cultural research, which purpose is to analyze the process of cultural value transition ??(happiness as an exceptional value) into a cultural norm (happiness as a rule and habit), and puts forward a hypothesis about the regularity of traditional values transition ??into a source of compulsion and manipulation in the modern culture.
