Abstract. The development of hermeneutic technologies is based on the mental nature of psychic and the scientific tradition of the XX th century. While considering small streets the hermeneutic methods of research have a number of methodological advantages in comparison with classical scientific approaches. The foundations of the hermeneutic development of small streets culture are understanding presence, going beyond the opposition "knowledge/ignorance". Understanding movement in expanding circles is efficient for the purpose of finding the richest meanings of urban culture; meanwhile the hermeneutic cognition of streets should be based on personal inspection and reliable sources.
