Abstract. The author reveals the basic principles of public centers formation in towns-plants of Western Siberia (the ХVIII th century), as the objects of the research considers the architectural ensembles of the plant squares of the Siberian towns (Barnaul, Zmeinogorsk) and urban settlements (Kolyvan', Pavlovsk), and believes that plant squares were formed as public-administrative centers, they were important elements of the industrial-economic life of the first Siberian towns, towns-plants, and also influenced the origin of the architectural outline of towns-plants.
