Abstract. The authors present the historical-legal analysis of usufruct, the features of this institution use in the Roman and Russian legislation, analyze how usufruct is adopted in foreign law and the Russian civil law, and consider the features of the future changes of property right, namely the right of social use (describe the new project of the Civil Code of the RF).
