CHARITY IN VYATKA PROVINCE DURING THE RUSSIAN-JAPANESE WAR OF 1904-1905

Abstract. The author considers the forms and methods of the interaction between state and local public authorities with public organizations and population during the Russian-Japanese war (1904-1905) by the example of Sarapul and Glazov districts within Vyatka province, pays special attention to the characteristics of zemstvo and tutorial establishments organizational activity on charity implementation, estimates the degree of zemstvo authorities financial and material support of the army, warriors, their families and children, and emphasizes the patriotism of the population and Orthodox clergy, which manifested in the collection of donations for war needs and care of deprived children.
