ROLE OF WOOL IMPORTED FROM CENTRAL ASIA IN WOOLEN INDUSTRY DEVELOPMENT WITHIN SIMBIRSK PROVINCE IN THE FIRST HALF OF THE XIX TH CENTURY

Abstract. The author studies the degree of the influence of wool imported from Central Asia on woolen industry development within Simbirsk province in the first half of the XIX th century, conducts a comparative analysis, which allows proving that the majority of wool from Central Asia was sent not to fairs, but right to manufactories, tells that in addition these data suggest that at least 40% of wool used to make woolen cloth was imported from Central Asia, without which it would have been impossible to organize the large-scale production of different kinds of woolen cloth in the first half of the XIX th century.
