MEMORY AND GENEALOGY OF SUBJECTIVITY BY F. NIETZSCHE
Shevtsov Konstantin Pavlovich
Saint Petersburg State University
Abstract. The article shows in what way the place of memory in the genesis of subjectivity and morality is determined in Nietzsche philosophy. Nietzsche considers memory as a specifically human achievement, a step to overcome the man’s animal nature in the way of will to power, and just this step produces a sovereign subject of morality, who is responsible for his actions. The basis of sovereignty according to Nietzsche is not only a commitment to duty, but also an ability to accept suffering, to take pleasure in suffering, thereby transforming a moral duty into the principle of autonomous desire and satisfaction.
