Abstract. The article studies the objective reasons of Gnosticism origin in ancient times. The author, using the method of historical analogy, reveals the reasons of its revival in contemporary society: the connection between the modern trend to anti-traditionalism and neo-Gnosticism phenomenon origin is ascertained. Considering the scientific ambiguity of the term "neo-Gnosticism", the author gives it a socially-culturally conditioned definition. The essential and structural analysis of Gnostic doctrines in the process of historical evolution is conducted.
