Abstract. The attempt to identify the essential foundations of the Russian family upbringing is undertaken in the article. The fundamental regulations of the philosophical and pedagogical views of the XIX th-XX th centuries domestic thinkers, representing the idea of the person’s upbringing realization, are revealed. The strategic directions of the actualization of family upbringing traditional values in the social-cultural conditions of modern Russia are determined.
