Abstract. The article undertakes the attempt of the social and cultural examination of game media. The topicality of the research is conditioned by the integration of magical discourse into contemporary media culture and also by the lack of the study of the hidden messages of magical images and their impact on recipients. The author comes to the conclusion that the popularity of magical discourse in game media can be explained by the fact that media and magic have common indications and functions. The influence of magical images on recipients is ambiguous and can cause a number of negative social and ethical consequences.
