Abstract. The article considers the current situation of growing interest in the notion of energy in many areas of modern culture – from the sphere of everyday life to philosophy and natural science. It is shown that this phenomenon can be interpreted as a symptom of the "phenomenological turn" of modern thought. As an ontological phenomenon energy is both the aim and means of implementing the self-reflection of the subject of thought.
