LINEAR FACTORS IN MELODICS OF CLASSICAL VIENNESE MUSIC (BY EXAMPLE OF JOSEPH HAYDN’S LATE SYMPHONIES)

Abstract. The article is devoted to revealing the rudiments of the monadic functioning of tetrachords and pentachords in tonal melodics. New analytical method based on the estimation of "quintal index number" is suggested. Index numbers demonstrate distance in perfect fifths from tonic tone. The notions of "quintal index number", "vector" and "vectorial scheme" are introduced. As a result, Haydn’s melodies reveal the concatenation of multidirectional tetra- and pentachords, and it allows describing the linear function of every tone.
