ORTHODOX CLERGY IN THE II ND STATE DUMA AND POLITICAL SCANDALS

Abstract. The article covers the least studied in scientific papers side of the Orthodox clergy’s activity in the II nd State Duma. Basing on sources, the author shows the dramatic situation, in which the Duma clergy found themselves being divided by political beliefs, as well as how the political battle in the Duma put clergymen at the center of scandals. Attention is paid to the role of government in its relations with deputies-clergymen at the resolution of political conflicts, and to the evaluation of clergymen’s activity by the church press.
