THE UDI PEOPLE OF SOUTH OF RUSSIA: POLITICAL AND ETHNIC ASPECTS

Abstract. The article is devoted to a small-numbered ethnic group – the Udi people – and the research of the ethno-political situation in the South of Russia. The subject of international relations, the formation of the united Russian nation and the preservation of the ethnic and cultural diversity of Russia has been actualized recently. Against this background, the author for the first time considers the political and ethnic aspects of the Russian Udi people existence, analyzes the nature of the Udi people migration in the southern regions of Russia, and gives his assessment to the role and place of the Udi ethnic group in the formation of multi-ethnic society in the Russian Federation.
