QUESTION OF GERMAN COLONIZATION OF RUSSIA IN NATIONAL SOCIAL AND POLITICAL ESSAYS OF THE END OF THE XIX TH – THE BEGINNING OF THE XX TH CENTURY

Abstract. The authors consider the widely discussed in the national pre-revolutionary social and political essays question of the "peaceful conquest" of Russia by the German colonists, by the example of the publications of the end of the XIX th – the beginning of the XX th century show the process of "enemy image" formation in social-political thought in Russia, and come to the conclusion that the growth of anti-German attitudes, which appeared long before the First World War, was largely caused by the desire of reaction-minded public figures to transfer the discussion of problems in agricultural sector into the national mainstream.
