Abstract. The author considers children’s piano music of the Russian composer-emigrant, performer and teacher Sergei Eduardovich Bortkiewicz, presents the history of the piano cycles in close connection with the composer’s biography, the long-term correspondence with the Dutch pianist Hugo van Dalen, also gives the detailed figurative-thematic analysis of the cycles, some of the most interesting pieces, translating the foreign materials used in the article.
