Abstract. The author discusses the activity of the Committee for Donations established in Penza province in autumn 1812 to raise the funds for Penza militia organization, for the first time describes in detail the mechanism of the Committee functioning and characterizes its tasks, also considers the progress and difficulties, with which the Committee for Donations encountered in the course of its activity, in conclusion summarizes the results of the Committee work and analyzes its role in Penza militia formation.
