Abstract. Basing on the materials of All-Union Population Censuses of 1979 and 1989 and All-Russian Population Census of 2002 the authors undertake the attempt to study ethno-linguistic situation and ethno-linguistic identity change in the cities and Russian-language areas of Bashkortostan, which composition is poly-ethnical, and for the first time substantiate the thesis that globalization processes and the urbanization of the non-Russian population of the republic associated with them bring their dynamic corrections also to the ethno-linguistic identity of the Russians of Bashkortostan, who recognize the language of another nationality as a native one.
