Abstract. The author reveals the content of the category valour from the perspective of Russian aristocratic culture, basing on the culture texts of the end of the XVIIIth - the beginning of the XIXth century considers the qualities that are included in the notion valour as well as the aspects of these qualities manifestation, pays particular attention to the sources of personal origin reflecting aristocracy's worldview, and determines the content duality of the category valour, as well as the possibility of the content substitution in the category due to the difference in individuals' values guidelines.
