Shevtsov Konstantin Pavlovich
St. Petersburg State University
Abstract. Descartes's physiology represents body structure as automat, which all actions are regulated by animal spirits motion sent by brain to nerves and muscles with particular importance of memory in brain work. Corporal memory retains some semblance of purely cognitive and intellectual activity, and thus can act completely autonomously, regardless of intellectual soul interference. The author analyzes corporal memory conception, and substantiates the essential connection between this conception and the general model of mechanical universe developed in Descartes's philosophy.
