Abstract. The author analyzes modern U.S. policy in Southeast Asia implemented within the framework of the course towards return to Asia put forward by Washington in 2009, and pays special attention to the political-military aspects of the U.S. involvement in the affairs of the region significantly increased during the administration of Barack Obama, namely: the development of allied relations with the Philippines and Thailand, strengthening of cooperation with other promising countries in the region - Vietnam, Indonesia, Singapore and Malaysia.
