REGULAR CLERGY IN KITAY-GOROD OF THE XVIITH CENTURY

Abstract. The author considers regular clergy as the part of Moscow population of the XVIIthcentury (by the example of Kitay-gorod), analyzes the social dynamics of this population category, reveals its motive power, and comes to the conclusion about regular clergy's active participation in the social processes taking place in the city, and state policy in the sphere of culture and religion as the main factor determining the position of Muscovite monks.
