ABOUT TOKHTA DEATH AND UZBEK ACCESSION IN GOLDEN HORDE

Abstract. The author considers the small episode in Golden Horde history concerning the accession to the throne of one of the most powerful Golden Horde khans, mentions that the question of Uzbek accession legitimacy is debatable in national historiography, basing on the study of Arabic and Persian sources concludes that Uzbek was one of legitimate candidates for the throne, and shows that the analysis of the sources reporting about the death of khan Tokhta allows dating this event only with accuracy up to six months.
