Abstract. The author considers St. Augustine's aesthetics in the context of the late antique and early medieval doctrines about the world order, pays special attention to the stages of St. Augustine's doctrine development and their interrelation with the religious and philosophical trends of the IIIrd-IVth centuries, and also conducts the analysis of Augustine's aesthetic worldview in its connection with the late antique subject matter of evil existence.
