EASTERN CAUCASUS IN GOLDEN HORDE AND KHULAGUIDS' POWER INTERRELATIONS SPHERE

Abstract. The author studies military-political situation within Eastern Caucasus in the XIIIth-XIVth centuries, during the period of the confrontation between Golden Horde and Khulaguids-ilkhans' power, covers in detail military actions between these states for the rich lands of Western Caspian Sea region, where the transit trade route of international significance was laid; and basing on sources analysis shows that the main struggle was for Derbent, which was a sort of a gateway from Asia to Europe and therefore had important economic and strategic significance.
