Abstract. The author considers the problem of ethno-social distance as the factor of negative ethnic identity formation by the example of Central Asian diaspora of Tatarstan, and concludes that a diaspora direct participation in inter-ethnic interaction influences its ethno-social distance overcoming and positive ethnic identity formation.
