PHILOSOPHICAL READINGS IN SAINT-PETERSBURG DEPARTMENT OF SPIRITUAL ENLIGHTENMENT DEVOTEES' SOCIETY AND PHILOSOPHICAL SOCIETY CREATION ATTEMPT

Abstract. The author considers the attempt of St. Petersburg Philosophical Society creation at the end of the 70s of the XIXth century. The need for Philosophical Society for religious-philosophical questions discussion and anti-Christian atheist ideas confrontation was realized during a series of religious-philosophical readings organized by St. Petersburg Department of Moscow Spiritual Enlightenment Devotees' Society. The readings gathered around a wide circle of people - theologians, philosophers and public figures.
