Abstract. The author discusses noble self-administration authorities' activity within Upper Volga region of the first half of the XIXth century, pays particular attention to the questions of the elections to noble self-administration authorities and the constant expansion of these authorities' functions, and conducts the study on the basis of the Russian Empire legislation on noble self-administration and the materials of Kostroma and Yaroslavl' provinces noble self-administration.
