SOCIALIST REALISM AS "THIRD AESTHETICS" IN ARTISTIC CULTURE OF THE USSR IN THE 1920S

Abstract. The author makes corrections in the common view, according to which there were two competing, mutually exclusive aesthetics in the center of the artistic culture of the USSR in the 1920s: proletarian art and avant-garde, undertakes an attempt to show that socialist realism as the state official aesthetics (of course, still not having clearly defined boundaries and its own name) already appeared in the 1920s as the alternative "third aesthetics", and as arguments presents the postulates of L. D. Trotskii and N. I. Bukharin, whose role in the formation of socialist-realist paradigm is still not covered in art studies.
