Abstract. The modern way of culture functioning involves a large amount of circulating verbal and non-verbal information, that is at the same time communication. An image is a consciousness construct, an individual's manifestation in modern life. The author considers a media image as a means of non-verbal communication that conveys its participant's subjective state through social norms, masks for communication with Other (self-presentation), artistic and sacred images.
