Abstract. The author studies the main milestones in the life of the famous French photographer of the end of the XIXth - the beginning of the XXth century Emil Nino, whose works cover the events of the social-economic, political and cultural life of the Far East, pays particular attention to the photographer's works devoted to the ethnography of the indigenous peoples of Lower Amur region and Okhomor'e, and shows that his unique photographs of the Aboriginal population arouse undoubted scientific interest, since they are the most important source on the history of the economy, culture and the way of life of traditional ethnic groups within the Far East.
