TEMPLE HISTORY OF IL'INSKII DISTRICT (BY THE MATERIALS OF ETHNOGRAPHIC EXPEDITION ALONG IVANOVO LAND ROADS)

Abstract. The author considers the history and description of the preserved temple complexes and churches within Il'inskii district of Ivanovo region studied in the course of ethnographic expedition, tells that the author's consideration of temple history is focused at the legends and beliefs associated with the appearance of church buildings as well as with the toponymic origin of rural areas and villages, traces the history of the churches, which either disappeared during the soviet era or relocated to another place, and shows that the expedition results presented in the article are the summation of the interdisciplinary research based on the synthesis of history, art criticism, culturology and ethnography.
