Abstract. The author sets the goal to solve, at least in general terms, an extremely topical problem of the evolution and functioning of artistic taste, this measure of aesthetic and moral values in the increasingly complex order of modern cultural life, and seeks to show that under the conditions of social and spiritual life increasing disintegration the training and consolidation of genuine taste (as the ability to orientate in aesthetic and ethical values) acquire special significance, and taste becomes more flexible and open.
