Abstract. The author tells that the realia of the XXIst century suggest that the proper understanding of risks is more relevant today than ever, conducts the complex analysis of risk parameters, reveals its origins and nature, describes the variety of risks that occur in human life, researches the technologies and mechanisms of minimizing risks, and finally explicates the fundamental aporia of human existence: a man exposes himself to new and emerging risks in search for safety.
