Abstract. The author introduces the concepts body-corpus and body-soma into the discourse of corporality, reflecting, respectively, the social-cultural and bio-psychic understanding of body. These concepts offer new prospects for studying the problem of corporality, on the one hand, they allow looking at the history of the scientific-philosophical understanding of human body in the European culture in a different complexion, on the other - they help reveal and study the aspects of the cultural practices and artifacts associated with body (in particular, visual mass media images) that are still poorly studied at present.
