Abstract. The author reveals the formation of military censorship system during the Russian-Japanese war of 1904-1905, pays attention to the documents regulating the activity of censorship commissions, basing on their analysis comes to the conclusion about military censorship effectiveness, and as a result of the research determines the positive and negative aspects of censorship organization at the theater of military operations.
