Abstract. The author analyzes the philosophical understanding features of slavery, considers philosophers' viewpoints (from ancient to contemporary period thinkers) on slavery essence and the reasons of its origination and pays special attention to the discussion of various philosophers' attitudes to physical and spiritual slavery.
