Abstract. The author discusses the famous Russian legislator, sociologist, cultural specialist and philosopher Evgenii Vasil'evich Spektorskii's (1875-1951) views on the state, and mentions that according to the scientist's idea the constitutional state corresponding to a wide range of characteristics is intended to serve a social ideal.
