MEMORY AS SOCIAL-CULTURAL PHENOMENON: MEMORATIVE PRACTICES ROLE IN IDENTITY CONSTRUCTION PROCESS

Abstract. The authors study recollection and oblivion cultural practices which are associated with identity construction in modern society. Memory cannot be conceived outside identity as the basic principle of the representation of the past of both an individual and society as a whole. The presence of memorial practices in modern culture which are associated with personal autobiographical project construction confirms the general idea of this article about identity escaping from definitive certainty.
