Abstract. By the materials of Kursk region state archive the author describes merchants' culture-education initiatives within Kursk province at the end of the XIXth - the beginning of the XXth century which were realized with the help of corporate entities: mutual aid company of merchant clerks in Kursk, commercial assembly, Kursk merchant assembly.
