Abstract. The author describes the practical implementation of the modernized doctrine Moscow is the Third Rome during the Great Patriotic War by the soviet propaganda machine, showing that having become an essential part of the soviet ideological system the doctrine pressed the international idea of soviet nationwide patriotism; considers the main components of national-patriotic conception and presents the interpretation of some of them (holy war, Holy Russia, holy people etc.) under wartime conditions. The scientific novelty of the article is confined in the use of the Belarusian subject matter in the considered context.
