Abstract. The author considers the views of the famous soil scientist V. V. Dokuchaev on the ecological aspects of the European Russia agrarian society natural environment state during the second half of the XIXth - the beginning of the XXth centuries on the basis of published and unpublished materials and reveals V. V. Dokuchaev's position on the reasons, consequences and ways of agrarian crisis overcoming.
