Abstract. On the basis of the political-philosophical ideas of the American revolution of the XVIIIth century and the works of the classics of political realism the author analyzes the principles of the formation of the USA foreign policy concerning Cuba and pays special attention to the evolution of Monroe's doctrine and the realization of its basic ideas in American foreign policy strategies.
