Abstract. The author considers the problems of the creation of Serbian voluntary units in Russia during the First World War, analyzes the military and diplomatic preconditions of their occurrence, underlines primarily political character of decision-making concerning the formation of these bodies of troops and studies the correlation of the influence of Russian and Serbian political circles on the final result. The materials of the article can be used in general and special courses on Russian History, World War I and Civil War.
